Baby Name Ideas

I wasn't sure if I was going to share any of our potential baby names, but I'm feeling in the sharing mood tonight. Although we don't know the genders yet, there are a few names that J and I both love and agree on.

Girl Names:
Isla (pronounced Eye-lah)
Elsa
Adia (pronounced A-dee-ah)**

Boy Names:
Silas (or Sylas)

I really struggle with boy names, so if we end up having two boys we'll have to put our heads together. I do like the boy names Grady and Liam, but I'm not sure what Josh thinks of those. I also like the name Lily for a girl. Once we find out the genders we'll probably pick the babies' names, including middle names, but for now these are just some of our ideas. I'm guessing if we have a boy and a girl we'll name them Silas and Isla, respectively. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

**This was to be Myles' name when we thought he was a girl. At our 20wk u/s we were told we were having a girl and we named her Adia Rayne. I still LOVE this name. Adia means "gift". Josh likes the name too, but feels weird using it because he says it's too closely tied to Myles. I think it would be a fitting tribute to a future daughter's older brother.

I love Isla/Ayla/Ila! And I grew up with an Elsa who was just the sweetest girl (but very sheltered so that the association I have with the name lol)
I also really LOVE Liam (or William, nn Liam)! Great names! Im such a name fanatic I want 290098309283 kids just so I can use all the names I have in my little notebook LOL!

I like Adia and Lily. I agree with you that Adia would be a nice tribute to Myles. :) My dad wanted to name me Lily and he still calls me that. Boy names are much harder for me too. Good luck.

I love all those names! Great choices :)

I think Adia would be a very fitting tribute to Myles.

I'm partial to the name Lily for some reason, and I like Liam for a boy. I also like Gavin, Ethan and Samuel for boys.

...still patiently waiting to find out the genders of these little buggers! LOL

Love ya!!!

You'll find this strange (or think I'm a crazy liar ;)!), but you have several names we liked. My husband has an uncle Grady so we liked that for a boy but couldn't decide on a middle name to go with it. We also considered Elsa and Isla, but ended up with a derivation thereof ... Ella.

I think any of those names are just beautiful. Really.

I was just about to comment on the name Adia being your name for Myles! I think it would be fitting for a little girl and yes a tribute to your sweet baby boy. Can't wait to find out who is in there!!

I love the names! Elsa is my mom's name actually - you don't hear it much but I like it! And I was going to use Lilly if we had a girl - that was my number one pick! But I love all of the names you mentioned! We did the same thing - found out the genders and we picked names that very night and we stuck to them - no last minute changes! :) I can't wait to hear the final decision once you know who is in there!

You have so many great choices! I really like the tribute to Myles with using Adia. Beautiful.

What about Adria for a girl? It's close to what you had chosen but still be different if your hubby doesn't want to use the name you'd chosen for Myles... and I think it's adorable.

Of course, I'm sure that would change the meaning of the name if that is something that is important to you.

I like the names you have picked out for your babies. When my stillborn little girl was born, we just couldn't name her what we had planned on..which was Carla Denise using "Carly" as a nickname, so having to think quick to have a name for her, we decided that what was to be her middle name, Denise would be her first name. If I have another daughter in the future, she will be Carla Denise, and her middle name will be a tribute to her older sister she never got to meet.

What's most important is that you and J like the names, and that you think they represent your little ones. They are going ot be soooo loved (=

Very different names!! My husband only wants traditional names so I think it is pretty neat...

So when's the big day you find out the genders?

I like your name choices, have not heard of any of the girl names before, but they sound very pretty.

I grew up with people never being able to say or spell my name correctly (and it's not even that "out there") so I was determined to use traditional names with traditional spellings with my two. And yet I still get "Is it Alli or Ally?" for Allison.

I *love* the names Isla and Silas. My only hesitation in using both of them (if you were to have a boy and a girl) is that they sound very similar to one another.

For example, someone I know named her twins Taylor and Tyler. They're both wonderful names, but some people might find them too "matchy" when used for twins. But if that's not something you care about, I really adore both names.

Lily and Isla are, in my view, absolute perfect names for twin girls.

In case you're looking for other suggestions, especially ones that are similar to Adia, but not exactly the same, how about:

Aiden/ Aidan
Aislinn
Adina
Aria
Aviva

Love them! You have some really good ones there. It will be so exciting to find out what the genders are, so you can figure out which/how many boy/girl names you need!

I agree. Why is it that boy names are so difficult to come up with? -- I do love your choices though!

The name Adia is so beautiful. It makes me think of the song "Adia" by Sara McLachlan. I know technically it's kind of a sad song, but I still think it's lovely. haha

How exciting that you're at the name-choosing stage!

I love the name Silas! I had seriously thought about that one myself but am chickening out a little now due date's getting near and will probably go with Samuel. That's only because Silas is virtually unheard of where I live, it is a great name though!

I LOVE the names Silas and Lily - both of those are on our "names if there are any more babies in the future" list.

I can't wait to find out what you're having!

Niki, I love Adia!! I think it would be so lovely to use it in tribute to Myles. I also really like Isla. Very cute!

Boy names are so much harder, I think. I can't wait to hear what the genders are! A couple more weeks???

I love Isla and Lily! In fact, if I ever have a girl, her name will be Lily. :)

I struggled with boy names too, so it is fitting that I now need two. Ha! Got 'em but not sharing yet. I don't think I'm 100% sure. Good luck with your search. When do you find out the sexes? Sorry if you already mentioned it - I've been a bad blogger.

I love the names Isla, Adia and Sylas. I do have to say, though, I prefer Sylas with a "y". I think Adia would be adorable as a tribute to Myles, and part of the reason I prefer Sylas is because you chose to spell Myles with a "y" also, so it would be a very subtle reminder of his older brother, too.

I would pick Adia/Isla for girl/girl, Adia/Sylas for girl/boy, and Sylas/Samuel for boy/boy, out of what you've provided.

I also adore names with meanings, and part of why I have the name I do is because it means "beloved child." My parents were deciding between my name and Myfanwy (muh-vahn-wee), which means basically "my fine one."

Names are so hard with ONE baby, and with two... ack. It was so difficult for us
Good luck, love your choices so far!

I vote for Isla! For the boy name I vote for Silas!

Great names! We actually had a harder time with a girls name than a boys name... our Payton was nearly a Logan, Landon or Elliott and Molly was nearly Amelia or Elliott (Ellie). Whatever you choose will be wonderful! Hugs to you! ~ Monica

Love Adia. I just finished reading a book, Testimony by Anita Shreve and Silas was the name of one of the main characters. Its a sad book, but I fell in love with the character and now I really love the name, too and was wondering yesterday why the name Silas wasn't more common.

OMG I remember when they thought Myles was a girl and I always liked the name Adia. I agree, it is a fitting tribute. Lovely names so far! When do you find out the sexes?

Love the name Lily. My son and his wife almost name Grace Lily. Lily Orion (for the constellation) Since Josh isn't too comfortable with Adia as the babys name (if one of them is a girl) how would he feel about it being used as a middle name as in Lillian Adia and then calling the baby Lily? Just a thought.

Boys names are tough. I have 3 sons so I know what a PITA it was coming up with their names. I really like Liam and Grady.
