Today's Nursery Project: Crib #1

Tonight J and I assembled the above crib--we made a good team and had it together in about an hour. This crib is a baby shower gift from my two best friends, L and J(the mattress is a baby shower gift from their moms). J and L are hosting the "big" baby shower (#5) this coming Sunday at my parent's house. They figured it was easier to deliver the crib to our house rather than taking it to my parent's for me to bring back to my house with all of the other gifts I'll have. I am so lucky to have such wonderful friends and can't thank them enough for such a generous gift! L and J you both know I love you dearly!

I was excited all day to put the crib together and couldn't stop staring at it when it was done. I immediately put the bedding on the crib to get the full effect. Unfortunately, my matching mobile doesn't fit on the crib, so I won't be able to use it. The crib is beautiful and very sturdy. After the showers this weekend we will order the other crib even though we could probably get along with just one for awhile. I like to have everything in order, so I want to get ther other one now too. The boys are really going to love them!

Did I miss shower #4? (-;

The mobiles are tricky on the sleigh beds. We had the same problem, but were able to attach ours to the end of crib instead of the side.
What wonderful friends! Enjoy!

Yay!!! I love it - is that a Da Vinci Kalani - that is what we ordered in espresso - I love them!

BTW, it is now 1:30 AM and I have moved to the couch...the reflux is so damn bad!!!

Its lovely! We want sturdy white wood cribs too (but are looking for cribs that are even on all sides or high on the 2 far sides as we have a small house, and small nursery)... our search goes on.

B, you didn't miss #4. That shower is on Friday night hosted by my other bff, D. :) I feel so lucky to have so many wonderful people in my life, including you! Thanks for cheering me on everyone!

BTW ... what's up with that weird comment?!

Beautiful Crib :) Everything's falling into place now! Pretty soon you'll have to sweet smelling (most of the time!), soft, cuddly little boys in your arms!

Alot of those mobiles come with an attachment to mount it on the wall, would that be a possibility? If not, don't sweat it to much, the mobiles look cute, but you can't use them for long anyway, as soon as they start pulling up in the crib, they become an issue!

Congrats! The crib is beautiful! We had the same problem. This is what we used
JL Childress Crib Mobile Attachment Clamp

it is pretty easy to "convert" the mobile and the clamp is very sturdy.

I love the crib!! And I can say that it's not at all a bad idea to have both set up ahead of time! Our boys only lasted about a week sharing the same crib, so you never know. They might love sharing or it might not work as well for them - I'm all about being prepared too :)

Just an FYI, the American Academy of Pediatrics, SIDS Alliance, and CPSC advise that bumper pads should not be used because of the risk of suffocation. A study published in the Journal of Pediatrics in 2007 found 27 accidental deaths from suffocation or strangulation were directly attributed to crib bumpers. Young infants don't have the motor skills or strength to get themselves away from the bumpers and you'd be surprised at how much a tiny baby can scoot and move and get wedged into them.

Love the crib and adorable bedding!

It looks just like ours and I was able to attach the mobile to one of the sides rather than the front or back of the crib. I hope this may work for you but it sounds like there may be some other options as well if it doesn't.

Continued peace to you, K and the boys.

Thanks for all of the compliments!

Suz, I appreciate you sharing the stats on bumper guards. I'm aware of the risks of crib bumpers and don't plan to leave them on when the boys are in the crib. They came with my bedding set, so I thought I'd put them on for decorative purposes for now. You are not the only one who was worried (I got a few emails from friends IRL warning me too). I'm so lucky to have so many people helping me along and watching out for the twins. I really do appreciate advice and guidance. Thank you! orried. :)

Oooooooo. That crib is beautiful! It looks so cozy, I wanna jump on in there myself. =)

(Oh, and I love the color of your floors!)

The nursery is coming together so nicely!

I love it! About the bumpers... I bought a mesh type bumper its really flat and breathable but it still keeps their arms and legs from getting stuck in the slats. I got mine from target. The only downfall is they only have 3 colors, white, yellow and blue. But I love mine.

Hi Niki,
I came across your blog and discovered your journey in October. I am just at the start of my baby journey (missed m/c @ 9 wks and D&C end of Sept followed by 2nd D&C last week due to some retained tissue). I had read many blogs and forums in my sadness but yours just blew me away and I couldn't stop thinking about it. Now I check in nearly every day for your updates. I have shed many tears for you and Myles and am also so excited and happy for you as you get closer and closer to meeting your twin babies. You are an inspiration, and I just wanted you to know that I am cheering you on from over here in Australia :-)

I can't believe how popular that crib is, everyone I know has got one so it must be a really great crib! Is it the one that turns to a double bed later on?

Must feel great to be setting up the babygear, really makes things just a little bit more real for ya.

I'm so happy your able to do that, that your so close to the end and holding your wee ones
