First Expectant Mommy & Baby Gifts

Today I received my first expectant mommy gift. My dear friend K.K. came over for breakfast and brought me a little something. I thought it was so sweet and thoughtful of her. The gift was in a simple brown gift bag with the above image stamped on the outside. I aboslutely adore the image of the two little pea pods and can't stop smiling when I look at it! The cute pea pods remind me so much of our two little ones growing strong in K's uterus. Inside the package was a fashionable nursing cover up that I can use while nursing in public (see below). K.K had one and absolutely loved it, so she bought me one. (I've mentioned this before, but in case you are wondering I'm going to induce lactation. I'll tell you all about it in another post some day.)

Although I didn't take a photo of it, I also received a congratulatory card from my wonderful Aunt B and Uncle T. It was the first material acknowledgement of the pregnancy and the precious little bundles we'll be welcoming into our family in February. For some reason it was just what I needed to make things feel a bit more real. Thanks for thinking of us Aunt B & Uncle T. You both rock and we can't thank you enough for your continued love and support!
The first gifts to the babies are pictured below and believe it or not I'm actually the one who bought them! A couple of my close friends had a garage sale last weekend and one of their co-workers was selling a bunch of her baby stuff at the sale. I picked up a bag full of goodies including soft-sided books and toys that hang on the carseat handle. All of these things look like they were barely used and I scored the whole loot for a mere $4. And the best news of all is that buying it didn't make me worry that I was jinxing the pregnancy for even one second! In fact I came home with the stuff and immediately put it in the storage baskets in the nursery.

FYI--the Type A perfectionist in me is going crazy with Blogger and not putting spaces between some of my paragraphs! It did this on this post and on the last. No matter what I do to try to fix the problem it still pushes those two paragraphs together. Grr! I'm nearly ripping my hair out, so I'm going to take a deep breath and step away from the computer. I apologize to you Type A's (yep that's you K) who are bothered by that when you read it!

That bag is so cute! I immediately thought of the babes when I saw it too. And nice score on the toys! I know it's hard not to worry but it's so much fun to plan for them too. :)

That is so awesome about the self induced lacatation ! I did so much research on it and even attempted it butmy schedule just wouldn't allow the pumping required and also I coudln't go on BCP ( thats just one way they could do it)

So just wanted to say how awesome that is!!!!

I'm so happy that you are enjoying this pregnancy and that the twins are developing so nicely!

Good score on all those toys! Just one word of caution: I looked at your picture of the toys and it looks like you have some of the Nuby gel-filled teethers in there. I have this same product for my son! The manufacturer of the teether recently issued a recall notice because bacteria found inside the gel could affect children with weakened immune systems, causing stomach pain, vomiting, and diarrhea, if the teether is punctured and the liquid from the teether is ingested.

I haven't taken the teether away from my son yet, but probably will soon (before he actually has teeth that could puncture it).

The gifts looks great, but I'm most happy that you didn't allow stupid jinxing superstition to stand in your way of purchasing those adorable little rattles and things. You go girl!

I induced lactation for my daughter and ended up BF her for nearly 9 months. If you have any questions about it, send me a note via email from my blog - happy to give you my experience, which was overall very positive. It is A LOT of work to induce lactation, but very worth it.

The nursing cover looks awesome, and what a great deal on the toys! Most importantly, it's so wonderful that you are starting to imagine these little babies coming home to play with them!

I just love this, Niki! I love your excitement and your drive to push through your worry and truly enjoy what is happening right now. What a great steal on the toys!

I sometimes have that same blogger issue. Normally I just end up making the 2 paragraphs appear as one and even deleting the last word of the first and the first word of the last. Then I retype and try the double return to get the space again. Blogger can be so frustrating sometimes!!
