Miscarriage is underway

I just received an email from K and she thinks the miscarriage has started. Last night she started having heavy bright red bleeding, cramps, and contractions, which have been pretty constant ever since. Just in time for her birthday--nice, hah?! I swear the universe has it out for us and punishes us and now those reproductively involved with us on our birthdays ... I found out the baby died on my 30th birthday in pregnancy #1. Myles died only a few hours after Josh's birthday. Now K is going through a miscarriage on her 31st birthday. Damn universe! We might just have to start celebrating our birthdays on a different day of the year!

K is such a trooper and toughed it out at school today and plans to go to her clinicals tomorrow. She really is one tough cookie, isn't she?! K said she's worried that she missed the baby (I asked her to collect the tissue to send to pathology for chromosomal analysis), but has received reassurance from a few she knows who've had a miscarriage that she will know. Although I'm a recurrent miscarrier, I can't provide much guidance in this area. I had a D&C with my first and the other three were early losses (5-6wks), which more or less resulted in an extra heavy flow. So, if you have any experience please share it with K. Also, please continue to think of K and pray that the process is over relatively quickly.

I am so sorry for you and K. K does sound amazing and strong.

My two losses were early so I do not have any wisdom for K. I will be thinking of her and I hope that she has a speedy recovery.

Niki - I am so sorry for all that you have been through.

Am so sorry for you guys and your loss. For K...you will know when your m/c the baby. I had a late m/c once and there are clots that you cannot miss. Especially when wiping. (Soory to be so graphic) Make sure you keep an eye on blood loss because you can miss hemmoraging during a m/c. If at anytime K feels the least bit light headed or passes painful clots then tell her to seek medical help IMMEDIATELY...(I didn't and had to be rushed to hospital for blood transfusion.)

My heart is heavy for all of you. I am so very sorry that all of you involved are going through this, and especially sweet K on her birthday. It makes no sense and saddens me indescribably. I am holding you all in my heart and sending all of you my love.

All I can say is, what the hell. Can't even put my sorrow into words. It's all so profoundly sad and unfair. K's amazing. I wish you all some peace. You deserve so, so much better.

I am just so sorry this is happening. from experience, I do not think K will miss the baby. She will know. Try and enjoy Mexico. K sounds incredibly strong and will get through this. We all do somehow.

Thinking of you all every day!
When I had my miscarriage I was worried I would miss it, but I felt something coming and it was a big clot with grey tissue. I pray this is over for you soon.

My thoughts are with you 3.

With mine we were 10 weeks and I we went the route of D&C to have things tested and I had just given birth 11 months prior and the dr.s said sometimes you will just bleed and not pass. Make sure K keeps a eye on bleeding cause the OB said that people who have delivered before have a higher chance of hemorrhaging.

She will know it when she sees it,the pain intensifies and the clots get bigger.(sorry TMI)

I ended actually m/c waiting for the d&c in day surgery but had the d&c anyhow.

big hugs...

I'm so sorry. I'm keeping you and your family in my thoughts. I was heartbroken to hear of the news. I won't say it seems so unfair because I know that you have heard that before. Just know you are all in my prayers.
